Selling online has only a short history, but it is indeed a very turbulent one.
In the 90's everybody was talking about it, but no one was buying. This coupled
with the fact that some of the initiatives back then were both plain silly and ridiculously
overrated lead to the famous dot-com bust in 2001.
It is ironic that ever since the bust people have talked less about it, and spent
more and more money online. The predictions that established companies with production,
logistics, and customer service already in place would be the ones to benefit the
most turned out to be absolutely true. At RSK Tech we believe that going online
is one important element in making both smaller and larger textile printers much
more profitable and ensuring long term survival in this increasingly competitive
market.
Since our launch at FESPA we've had enormous success with both RSK Logobank®
and RSK Web Express® and will be launching new customer webshops in the autumn
and winter. But we have also talked to some textile printers who didn't initially
agree completely with us about the obvious benefits of selling online.Based on the
many pleasant conversations we had with textile printers from all over the world
we have compiled a list of the typical myths that some textile printers hold.
Myth: We already sell over the Internet and no one is interested!
- Fact 1: You might have a shop, but if no one is
buying you don't actually sell. Why customers are not buying can be due to a number
of reasons, but the webshops built on RSK Web Express® that we have delivered
are already accountable for 30% or more of those textile printers' total sales.
- Fact 2: Are your key products actually on the website?
Can customers actually order garments such as t-shirts, work wear, and sport's wear
with print on? If the products offered on the webshop simply aren't the ones customers
are after, that is a pretty good explanation why no one is buying. RSK Web Express®
includes modules for selling prints, selling textiles, selling letters and numbers,
selling names, printed or cut in foil, and selling combinations of these; i.e. printed
t-shirts.
Myth: We only sell to companies so we can't sell online!
- Fact: Webshops are certainly not limited only to
sell to consumers and end-users. If you are selling to companies, or through distributors
and retailers, a webshop can bring you tremendous benefits. RSK Web Express®

only.
Myth: Our customers are too lazy to order over the Internet!
- Fact: Customers are not lazy! Rather their time
is a limited resource, which is why they will prefer the fastest and easiest way
to order your products. If your webshop isn't fast and easy to use, then no one
will use it. A webshop built on RSK Web Express® is both fast and easy to use
- that is why existing customers are selling 30% of their total sales over the web
- and if you get one your customers will love you for it.
Myth: Our products can't be sold over the Internet!
- Fact: Why not? In reality there are very few things
that can't be sold over the Internet. It is true that textile printers do indeed
have some special needs. That is exactly why you should contact us at RSK Tech to
start selling online; we are the specialist when it comes to textile printers, and
we have done it before.
Myth: We don't want to loose human contact with our customers
- Fact: At RSK Tech we believe that maintaining contact
with customers is vital to the success of any company. It is however hard to believe
that value is actually added when all you talk with your customers about is what
colour of t-shirt, what sizes, what print, what quantity, and so on. If you let
RSK Web Express® handle this job, you will not only get fewer errors and mistakes,
you will also get more time to talk to your customers about things that do add a
lot of value: Are they happy, what can you do to improve their satisfaction, how
do they perceive the market, and so on.
Myth: We're just a small company, we can't afford a webshop!
- Fact: It is true that there is no such thing as
